Meet Pearl
Pearl Weggler, MSW (they/he)
Pearl is a trans and queer clinician who supports young adults as they navigate their intersecting identities, relationships, moods/emotions, and family dynamics.
Pearl is a graduate of the Masters in Social Work (MSW) program at Boston College and began their career in gender affirming services after obtaining their bachelor degree in Gender Sexuality and Women’s Studies from the University of Vermont. After graduation, Pearl supported LGBTQ+ youth at a wilderness therapy program in Vermont’s backcountry. Since then, he has continued to support LGBTQ+ individuals in an array of mental health settings including a therapeutic high school in Montana, a DCF foster home in Vermont, and McLean Hospital’s eating disorders center, Klarman, in Massachusetts.
Pearl began working with college students while co-leading PLEASURE, a sexual violence prevention program at the Massachusetts Institute and Technology (MIT). At MIT, Pearl developed and implemented a sexual health, consent, and power/identity curriculum. Pearl enjoys working with young adults as they develop their identity and explore new relationships. After completing their placement at MIT, Pearl worked with students at Wellesley College, providing psychotherapy to students with a range of concerns, including eating issues, low self-esteem, and perfectionism.
Pearl approaches clinical work through a non-pathologizing lens. He normalizes nonadaptive behavior as a survival strategy especially in the context of generational and societal trauma. Pearl is well-versed in Internal Family Systems and Narrative Therapy. They bring an eclectic approach to their therapy practice utilizing interventions and conceptualizations that attune to the clients individual needs and strengths.
Most importantly, they take a relational, anti-racist, and client-centered approach to their clinical work. Pearl serves as a guide to help clients gain clarity and insight into who they are and want to become.
