M. Joyce-Anderson, MSW, LICSW (they/them)
Clinical Director
M (they/them) is a queer and trans clinician who specializes in supporting LGBTQ+ youth and adults. M particularly enjoys working with queer and trans clients who are in the process of exploring their identities or seeking a secure and affirming space to receive support and guidance, regardless of where they are on their personal journey.
M is uniquely equipped to support LGBTQ+ individuals who have experienced trauma, particularly in medical and mental health settings. Recognizing the profound impact of these experiences, M is dedicated to engaging in reparative work, assisting clients in healing, and reclaiming their emotional well-being.
Clinical Experience: M brings a wealth of clinical experience to their practice. Their history includes emergency service program management, serving as a Director of Social Work for a system of inpatient psychiatric hospitals, providing outpatient therapy, and specializing in intensive child and family therapy. Most recently, they served as Co-Director of a gender care clinic for children and adolescents.
Advocacy and Culturally Responsive Care: Passionate about advocacy work, M actively engages in developing policies and delivering trainings focused on culturally responsive care for transgender and gender-diverse individuals. Their dedication to supporting these communities is unwavering, and they strive to create safe and affirming spaces where individuals can thrive.
Therapeutic Approach: M's clinical practice is grounded in a person-centered framework. They believe in the power of non-directive, supportive relationship-building and collaboration between therapists and individuals seeking assistance. With a commitment to evidence-based and lived-experience-informed treatment approaches, they work to create an affirming environment for clients.
